Amador here and today I wanted to create a Mother’s Day Banner! Luckily I had several flowers left over from my previous project of the Spring Floral wreath. I used many of the 8x8 patterns from the Slay it Girl collection. For the MOM banner flags I chose to use the journaling cards from the Slay it Girl collection as well. Since the collection comes as a PNG file I chose to enlarge it enough to fit the banner size I needed. This way the Mom banner would not be overshadowed by the flowers.

You can see both projects on my youtube channel “amadoreros” In my previous video I show how I save on ink and cardstock by using the Print and Cut function on my Silhouette Cameo.

I decided not to use the traditional string, twine or ribbon for my banner. I chose to use the wrapped wire string from Prima in pink.  I chose to to wrap the wire ribbon around the base of a brush to give it a whimsical twist (yes pun intended) The wire holds its curly twist and gives the banner more bounce. The end of the banner is completely twirled to be able to hang from almost any place.

I chose to use purple cardstock to layer behind the white confetti MOM letters to separate them from the banner. I didn’t want the letters to fade into the purple floral pattern. In the video I showed how I keep the banners and flowers in there section with just a little hot glue and small punched circles. This was the best option considering simple liquid glue or rolled glue would not hold the wrapped wire ribbon.

I also had several left over leaves from the wreath tutorial that I used to accent the flowers.  I used the floral accents from one of the bonus journaling cards. I decided to place them on the “M” in the same location and on the opposite side of the “O” this will give the letters just a little added floral touch.
