Hi Everyone,

I am so excited to show you my first project for Papercakes Designs Team, ‘Sandy Claws’ On the Shelf'. This project was inspired by Serena’s Creepy Christmas Collection. It reminds me a little of 'The Nightmare before Christmas' and my children and I are big fans of Jack Skellington.

Before I created this project, I was researching 'The Elf on the Shelf' tradition to start for my children... which give me the idea to combine ‘The Nightmare before Christmas' with ‘The Elf on the Shelf’…which became ‘Sandy Claws’ on the shelf.

At first I wasn't sure how I could incorporate this idea with the collection...But the presents, skull garland and stocking icons, gave me the idea to create 'Sandy Claws' his very own cosy Christmas sitting room to sit in on the shelf.

This is what I came up with:

 Christmas tree

I created the Xmas tree with black glitter card stock using my Silhouette Cameo, Click Here for the same cut file. I used some bling as baubles...using a little extra glue, I placed 2 bits of the same bling back to back on the edge of the Christmas tree branches.

For the presents under the tree, I used some of the present icons from the Creepy Xmas element sheet and the Snow Day Collection. The presents have tabs on them to keep them up-right. This is another reason why I like digital scrapbooking designs because you can manipulate them to suit the needs of your projects in whatever way you like.

Fireplace

The Fireplace is also a silhouette cut file for a little LED tea light.

I used some more icons from the Creepy Xmas Collection to dress the fireplace...Jack and Sally have their very own Christmas stockings. The ‘Making Christmas’ ornament on top of the fireplace is actually a sentiment from the Creepy Xmas Collection… I also added tabs on the back of that to keep it upright.

'Sandy Claws' Chair

The paper I used to create Sandy Claws chair was actually a 3x4 journaling card from the Creepy Xmas Collection, I manipulated the size of the journaling card on my silhouette to suit my needs. Click Here for the chair cut file.

Here is a back view...

The chair is meant to hold a gift card in the bottom, but I created a little 'Accordion Mini Album' to hide in there. I used some more of the Creepy Xmas icons to decorate the hidden mini album.

I also added a couple of coin envelopes in to save ephemera bits. The mini album will be great to document all the mischief Sandy Claws gets up to this Xmas.

And here is what the mini album looks like open. To make this I cut 3 pieces of paper to size and folded them in half. I then glued them all together to create the accordion style album.

And here is Jack just chilling on my shelf waiting for the Christmas mischief to start!

Well that is all from me for now, I hope you decide to make your very own ‘Sandy Claws’ on the shelf. It doesn’t have to be ‘Sandy Claws’, you could make the same thing for your elf. If you do recreate this project I would love to see some pictures, tag me on Instagram. Here’s some links to where you can find me online. Til next time! Rachel
