Hi Annie here!
Today is the debut of two new collections, Slay It Girl and Chosen One. To kick off the celebration, the design team is participating in a Youtube hop. However, since I don't have a Youtube channel, I'll be sharing my project here! Don't forget to leave a comment to enter the giveaway! Scroll to the end to hop along!!!
I chose to use the Slay It Girl collection to make a cute flipbook. I am loving the beautiful floral patterns and black & white!
Also, the shell style of this flipbook came from a tutorial on Youtube : Kels Painted Paradise. She is a great mixed media artist and I wanted to give her credit for the setup of the flipbook.
What I used:
·        Slay It Girl papers and journaling cards
·        Floral dies & die cutting machine
·        Washi
·        Pink chalk ink
·        Color shine
·        Sequins
·        Glue, tape runner
·        Stickers
First, I chose the patterned papers that I wanted and cut down 8 sheets to 6 x 6.
These papers will be glued back to back. Before I applied glue, I arranged the papers in a T formation in order to make sure that when the pages were flipped open and shut, the pattern was facing the correct direction.
Once the glue was applied, I used a thin line of liquid glue on either side of the pages, left a small margin between the pages, and placed my gold washi tape directly on the glue. This helps the washi adhere permanently and prevents the book from falling apart. The gap between the pages allows the book to be filled while allowing it to close properly.
Once the pages were attached, I used pink chalk ink around the edges.
I decorated the front cover by layering paper doilies, washi, a journaling card from the collection, sequins, and splattered the front page with gold color shine.
Next, I worked on the inside left square. I cut a 3x6 inch strip of gold heart vellum and adhered the left, right, and bottom side with tape runner to create a pocket. I filled the pocket with journaling cards from the collection. I layered washi and white ric rac for some dimension and applied a floral die cut that I made with paper from the collection and a Maggie Holmes die set.
For the rear right square, I made a belly band from one of the 4x6 cards and put 3 handmade paperclip embellishments that I made with the Maggie Holmes die set and the paper collection.
Here are some more close up pictures!!
The center square is flipped down. For the inside of that square, I layered a kraft pocket, journaling cards, a doily and washi tape. I used gold color shine and gold staples for interest. In the pocket, I included a small packet of a sequin mix that matches the collection.
Here's a look of the inside
