Hello everyone! It's Annie with another Papercakes project using the October Nights papers, October Nights 2016 Collection and digital stamps from Vera Lane Studios.
For this project, I'd decided to use both the paper collection and Papercakes Spooky October photopolymer stamp, because I like the flexibility to create my own patterned backgrounds. I like the blend of kraft cardstock and the black, white, and orange of the October Nights collection, so I decided to incorporate both into this project.
This pocket letter is basically an homage to what I love about October - so you'll see some of my favorite quotes, images, and colors that give me all the Halloween feels! Also, the Vera Lane digis and Papercakes' digital collections are a match made in Halloween Heaven, so you'll have to try integrating them in your projects, too!
I prepared by watercoloring all of the digital images with distress markers and fussy cut them out.
First I cut all my papers down to size to fit the pocket sleeve (2.5" x 3.5"). I chose 5 different patterned papers and cut 4 plain kraft papers.
For the kraft papers, I repeat stamped two of them to create my own patterned paper. One of them I repeat stamped "that Halloween feeling" sentiment and on the second, I repeat stamped the ouija game piece, heart, and star.
On one of the cards, I stamped another sentiment from the Spooky October stamp set.
Next I ran the Lawn Fawn alphabet die through my die cutting machine to cut out letters to spell "Treat yo self" from an October Nights black and white pattern paper.
One the ouija game piece card, I painted the centers of the piece with orange acrylic paint and added diamond stickles to the center.
On the other two cards I splattered the cardstock with orange and black acrylic paint that I had thinned out with water on an acrylic block.
I added some washi and some colored images from Vera Lane Studio to two of the cards.
For these cards, I wrote out two quotes with a white gel pen on black cardstock. I adhered them with washi and tape runner and added more Vera Lane Studio images.
For these two cards, I used my dymo label maker to typo out two more phrases. On one of them, I adhered the label directly to the card because I love the contrast with the background. The other card I used a spider web doily and added a Vera Lane Studio witch digi along with the "Basic Witch" phrase.
For this card, I added some patterened paper and attached my Vera Lane Studio image. I added just a small amount of Halloween sequin mix and fused the pocket shut with my fuse tool. I stamped the sentiment "trick-or-treat" from the Spooky October Set with Versamark ink and heat embossed with white embossing powder.
Here's a look at the finished product:
So that's it. A very simple Halloween pocket letter using Papercakes' digital collections & stamps and digis from Vera Lane Studio. Hope this inspires you to create. Happy Fall, everyone!
Love, love, love this pocket letter! The October Nights papers go so well with the kraft card. Great Vera Lane Studio images too! x
