Hi Amador here today! I wanted to show how to use the designs from the Love Bites Collection in a completely different way. The awesome Papercakes designs are printable and you can print them on more than just cards stock!! This time I have used printable iron on transfers to create my project. Watch the video below!!
I wanted to create a Valentine’s Day t-shirt for my nephew and also create a design that would be useable for anyone to wear. Instead of starting with a regular white shirt I wanted a black one to make a good background for all of the Love Bites collection.
I used the “ Hey Sucker” 3x4 card which is my favorite piece of the Love Bites collection. It has so much character and can be used either in a loving way or a playing friendly type of way. This is one of the 3x4 cards from the principle collection. I layered it on a 3x4 card that I made from two of two 8x8 paper patterns. The black heart pattern is from the principle collection and the pink and teal heart with lines card is from the bonus mini kit (only available when purchase the full collection). I will only be printing what I make as part of the design which is a great way to save on ink!
After layering the 3x4 cards I added several icons from the Love Bites elements sheet. The “happy love day” sentiment goes perfectly with the hey sucker card along with the “you make my heart explode” sentiment. To top off the design I layered several of the teal, pink and black hearts around the design like heart confetti. I also snuck in one of the double hearts icons to add some more color.
Once my design was complete, I added a white border to give it some visual dimension from the black background that is the shirt.
I also created another printout for a shirt I created for my Chihuahua Fifi. This was also layered on a black shirt. I used the same sized design. This filled the entire back of the dog shirt. The dog shirt was given a vintage look by pressing harder with the iron on the printable. The iron on decorations were not resized and they are true 3x4 images.
I was going towards an almost 'emo' style shirt with this design but my nephew's smile did not let that happen. We took several pictures during our little photo shoot and he couldn’t help but smile and giggle all the way through.
My Chihuahua Fifi was not as cooperative as my nephew for pictures so I not have one to share of her wearing the shirt.
Head on over to my youtube channel “amadoreros” or watch below to see the video and a small walk through of the process I used to complete this wearable project.
