Hello everyone! Annie here with another design team project for Papercakes. This week on the blog, we're featuring our favorite Papercakes item. And though I have many, I felt like one of my favorite ride-or-die items are the stamp sets. Here, I'm showcasing the most recent stamp set from the October release, Spooky October - and there's lots to love about it! From numerous creepy/cute icons to the spooky sentiments, it would be hard to pass up this set's versatility on your projects - for Halloween and otherwise!
Here's what I used for this project:
·        Spooky October Stamp Set
·        Onyx black Versafine ink
·        Black & dark gray colored cardstock
·        Colored pencils
·        Chunky glitter, twine, & glossy accents
·        White gel pen
·        Foam tape
I chose to make an anytime card using several of the stamp icons to create a patterned paper on dark gray cardstock, measuring 4.25" x 5.25". I chose to use the ouija game piece, the skull, and the bat. I stamped them with onyx black ink randomly, while alternating the orientation and stamping off the edges.
In order to make the images stand out, I used my Prisma color pencils to color in some of the images. For the skulls, I blended white, nude, and dark gray to get a variegated effect, since real skulls are not truly white.
I used a white colored pencil to highlight different details on the stamps, which really makes them pop because of the contrast of the dark cardstock. For the ouija game pieces, I used various pastel colors to trace around and highlight the details.
I added glossy accents to each of the centers of the ouija game pieces and adhered chunky glitter to make the centers stand out.
Next I rounded the corners of the paper and cut out my card base from black cardstock to make a top folding card. The black cardstock measured 11" x 4 7/16" (which I folded in half to make a card measuring 5 Â 1/2" x 4 Â 7/16").
I also used a small strip of black cardstock for my sentiment, which I hand wrote with a white gel pen. I punched the edge with a lace punch for added interest.
Next I adhered my card to the card base with tape runner and attached the sentiment with a foam strip to add some dimension.
And that's it - A really cute and simple card using minimal supplies, that is still impactful!
I really love the Papercakes stamp sets. They allow so many options to use with her digital collections and on their own. I believe they are a must-have for every paper crafter and I recommend checking them out in her shop!
Have a lovely day, everyone and happy crafting!
